Stručné sdělení:
Current therapies may exploit either differential metabolism or overexpression of specific individual gene products in aberrant cells. We propose an alternative approach – to specifically target combinations of cell-surface receptors using heteromultivalent ligands (htMVLs). For proof-of-concept, heterobivalent ligands (htBVLs) were constructed with binding motifs as melanocortin peptide ligand combined with either a cholecystokinin peptide ligand or the delta-opioid specific ligand. The two ligands were tethered with linkers of varying rigidity and length and constructed from natural and/or synthetic building blocks.
